Kunstpedia.com
Kunstpedia is a database with articles on the fine and decorative arts, with the exception of contemporary art. The basis of Kunstpedia.com is formed by a diversity of articles in Dutch and English, which have been posted by art historians, collectors, art  galleries, antique dealers and museums. Contributors include the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, Hermitage Amsterdam, Milwaukee Art Museum, The Royal Collection Buckingham Palace and the Seattle Art Museum.

Smarthistory.org is a free, not-for-profit, multi-media web-book designed as a dynamic enhancement (or even substitute) for the traditional art history textbook.

Thieme Becker
The German encyclopaedia of artist biographies in 37 volumes with the full title Allgemeines Lexikon der Bildenden Künstler von der Antike bis zur Gegenwart. The joint work contains ca. 250 000 biographies that were compiled with the help of 400 specialists world-wide including all contemporary leading art historians.  The special relevance and strength of the Thieme-Becker-Vollmer lies in entries for less known and almost unknown artists not listed anywhere else; it lies also in the inclusion of architects, designers and other artisans working in applied art.

The Warburg Institute is concerned mainly with cultural history, art history and history of ideas, especially in the Renaissance.
